The Role

We are currently searching for a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural engineering team on the National Bank of Kuwait project, Kuwait city. The project is 55 storeys high and comprises of a concrete core with steel frame.

Requirements

To provide high level technical/design engineering service to the Group acting as the lead Structural Engineer on the NBK project.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:


• Bachelor degree (BEng) / BSc or Master’s degree (MEng) / MSc
• Chartered Engineer CEng IStructE (UK) or equivalent
Person Specification:
• A Senior Engineer must be able to deliver to the agreed technical standards
• Must be able to lead a small team of structural engineers and also liaise with Client and Contractor.
• The individuals must be a degree holder with a minimum of 10 years’ experience and must be a chartered engineer with registered engineer status.
• In addition to these skills they must be able to demonstrate a developing capability across all Buro Happold Core Competencies.
• Needs to have both concrete and steel experience and ideally high rise experience
• Demonstrate a commitment to CPD and self-learning / development

Key Responsibilities:

o Responsible for all day to day structural engineering aspects of the project.
o Responsible for the structural engineering resourcing and day to day task allocation for the structural engineers and inspectors working on the project.
o Manage the workload of structural engineers and inspectors (including verification of quality) Responsible for reporting of progress to Project Director, to include the any escalations and key engineering issues.
o Communicate directly with the NBK Client as required
o Set up and manage structural engineering project administrative systems – submittals and RFI listings - including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure (adjusting these as necessary).
o Liaise and coordinate with the other engineering teams on site – Mechanical, electrical etc
o Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service and site decisions and the objectives of the client are achieved.
o Ensuring all relevant BH staff are informed of client matters.
o Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client’s best interests and that BH policy is in keeping with current legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice etc.
